Thanksgiving week is my favorite week of the year because Thanksgiving is my FAVORITE holiday!  I love Thanksgiving, the food, the smell, the food, the binge, the treats, the seconds, the food, etc.  What I don’t like is – absolutely nothing!  I love going to the store and getting my items.  I love the crowded parking lots, the way families come together to celebrate and gather over the feast.  With all the food I will be eating I must stay on track to lose my half a stone to a stone weight!  I want to be in perfect health for my Princess Half Marathon and I am going to be! I am going to PR!  I am going to excel and I am going to ring in 2015 happy and healthy and 2015 will return it back to me with everything I asked for!

So this week we will continue to work it out!

Physical goals for the week – exercise Monday through Thursday!

Personal goals for the week – not to feel guilty about eating on Thursday (and Thursday night and Friday morning and Friday evening and maybe Saturday)!




Middle of the Month Update

How’s my challenge going? IT IS GOING! Somewhere. I think.

Seriously, I have been doing well on it! I slipped on Monday by having a piece of meatloaf but other than that I have been committed to my no-meat stance for 90 days (that piece of meatloaf just added another day to the challenge). I have been running although no yoga yet. I have been working out consistently although not at the Y. But I am getting there. I am scheduled to take a spin class with my friend tonight. Scheduled being the operative word.

The point of my challenge is and always has been for me to take a better initiative towards my health. I don’t need to lose weight and I am not aiming for that. I am trying to tone up and lean out because I want to be strong with a bit more muscle definition.

Just wanted to take some time to give an update to all three of my followers. I know you have missed me. Work has taken a bulk of my time (click here), family has taken another chunk, and Bravo reality shows have taken a slice (don’t judge me)!

Anyhoo, I am getting there!!


Day 7

It has been a week and I am keeping my end of the bargain (although I am the only one who is in on this deal) of this 90 day challenge!

A review of the first week:

Meat – didn’t eat it.

Exercise – I did it!

Yoga – zip

YMCA – zip

Overall grade – C+/B-

This week I am focusing on taking 2 spin classes at the Y and I even roped a friend to join me.  Tomorrow I scheduled myself to do yoga at 9:30 a.m. Last, I planned out my meals for the week so I am one step ahead of the game.

I wanted to tell you I am doing a smoothie challenge for the month of April. Check it out here. I’ll let you know what I think at the end of the week.

Also, this morning I ran 2 miles at 10:15 a mile. Go ME!! I am getting there.

National Walking Day

Today is National Walking Day and my butt walked 5 miles!

I had a great, healthy eating day. Yeah, I had pizza; so what? It was vegetarian.

Day 2 of the challenge and I’m rocking!

(inner voice): Calm down chick. It’s only day 2.

(outer voice): Shut the phuck up!

Day 1 and not an April’s Fool

YAY!!! I rocked it! I totally kicked ass (even though it was my own) on the first day of my challenge. I ran 3 miles at 11 minutes a mile. This is great because I usually run a 10-minute mile (on a good day, 9:50 a mile; on a great day – which means I am probably, totally drugged up, 9:30 a mile). I know that for me the hardest step and day of any challenge is starting. If I could just start I know I can get into a rhythm. All I need is to take that first step which means putting on my workout clothes, getting out of my house, stepping into the gym, finding the path to run, and then doing putting one foot in front of the other and going for it. That is a long ass first step. That first step is more like five steps – no wonder it takes me forever to start; by the time I start I am on step 6. I am exhausted.

I am getting there!


90-day challenge: the remix

The sequel is almost, always, never as good as the original. In this case, the original 90-day challenge didn’t stand a chance.

Ok. Sometimes you have to set the reset button and start over. What I was thinking starting a challenge during spring break? I know myself. I LIKES TO EAT!!!

I’m starting the challenge over today. No meat or poultry, more yoga, consistent running. This challenge is based on health and pushing myself out of my comfort zone. I hate running but I love medals. I like chicken but I can use less of it. I hate stretching but can use the flexible advantage to improve my mattress-dancing skills.

Coming or going but I’ll get there.

P.S. I love Mondays! I should always start a challenge on a Monday. It sets me up for success.

90 Day Challenge

Yay!  I love spring! Where I live spring lasts a total of 3 days so one must enjoy every minute of it.  As we are nearing the first quarter of 2014, it is a good time for me to revisit my 3 Ps (personal, physical, professional).  On the personal; hmm, we’ll get back to that one a little bit later in the show. Professional – I am thriving. I just have to keep on keeping on. And now onto the physical – ugh!

I am pretty healthy and have a decent exercise routine but I can always do better.  This year is about challenging myself to be the best I can be.  I want to be fit and healthy and not be consumed by the number on my scale.  I want to know that I ate right, did my exercise, and felt good. With that being said, I am going to challenge myself for the next 90 days (or until the first day of summer)  to up my game in the physical department so here is my plan:


Run – a minimum of two times a week.

Yoga – twice a week (this is 90 percent of the challenge).

YMCA – three times a week for a minimum of 20 minutes each visit (by the way this goal is being reinstated AGAIN).

Ten minutes of exercise daily – this does not have to be strenuous. It could be as simple as taking a vigorous ten minute walk.

Sounds doable but sometimes are always better said than done. I should link this challenge to my personal challenge of blogging more consistently. I challenge myself to post for the next 90 days!
